CHRC Waiting List is Open!

NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS! 

The Columbia Housing & Redevelopment Corporation (CHRC) affordable housing waiting list waiting list is now open and will be accepting new applications from Wednesday, August 12 at 8:00 am to Thursday, August 20 at 4:00 pm. Eligible individuals and families are encouraged to apply during the open application period. 

To qualify for the HUD Multifamily Section 8 Project-Based Assistance (PBRA) and Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) Programs, you meet the HUD income limits and eligibility screening requirements.

Alternatively, you may visit the main office at 101 Penny Avenue in Columbia, TN, during office hours to pick up an application and return it by August 20, 2026.

For assistance due to a disability or limited English proficiency, contact the CHRC office. You may also ask a family member or volunteer to help you complete the application.

If available, please provide the documentation below (this documentation is required prior to Move-In):

  • Driver's License/ID (over the age of 18)
  • Birth Certificate(s) (every household member)
  • Social Security Card(s) (every household member)

Please answer all questions on the application and fill in the required amounts clearly. Each household member over 18 must complete a separate application, submitted with the head of household's application.

Allow up to four weeks for the credit and criminal background screening to determine your conditional eligibility for the waiting list. We will notify you by mail and/or email about your application status, so include your current contact information. Any applicant on the waiting list must provide required documentation and pass final screening before being selected for an apartment. All applications must be received by August 20, 2026, at 4:00 pm.
